Two project teams met in Košice

28.8.2018            At the end of August (28.8.2018), the two teams of the RailGate project - Lillafured Railroad in Miškovec (LÁEV) and the Košice Children Railroad met together to co-ordinate the implementation of the projects and exchange experience for the fourth time in Košice on the grounds of Municipal Forests.

            At the Alpinka terminal participants were surprised by the memorial - Miškolc locomotive, which reminds Slovak-Hungarian co-operation. A vogon named “Košice” will soon be in operation in the railway in Miškovec.

            The introduction of the meeting included the Director of City Forests Tibor Roth, who presented the territory of Košice forests and the activities of a city enterprise that takes care of the second largest urban forests in Europe.

            Child Railroad Project Manager Rudolf Bauer presented possibilities and obstacles to the development of the Košice Children's Historical Railroad. The biggest obstacles to the possible extension of the track have been the conflict between the railway and the golf course, the lack of parking spaces and the ecological burden of the steam operation on the air. In the perspective of ten years, he would like to get rail to annual attendance of 100,000 visitors, to organize attractive public events, development of services such as rental of bicycles, scooters. All this in close cooperation with the city of Košice and other partners in Čermel.

            The possibilities and ways of communication and marketing of both railways were presented by Zuzana Lehotská for the Children's Railway Košice and Adam Jákots of LÁEV, who presented possibilities for development and the biggest obstacles on the Hungarian side.
